The Entrepreneurial bud

As the semester comes to an end, I am saying goodbye to some of my favourite teachers and courses. One such course this semester was Entrepreneurship which was by far one of the  best learning experiences I had at IBA. I loved every bit of this course mainly because of the way my teacher, Mr Shahid Qureshi taught it, almost enough to develop the entrepreneurial passion inside me. And now, with no more entrepreneurial classes left, I almost write this post with a heavy heart.

The submission

A middle aged woman steps on the entrance of a shop. She looks at the conventional black and red slate hung up near the entrance and reads the price of chicken breast, chicken leg, half chicken, full chicken & boneless chicken written on it. She asks the shopkeeper for the boneless chicken. The shopkeeper nods, and goes towards the cage while the “pucking” sound of the hen, “thudding” sound of the butcher’s knife on the wooden slab and the “meowing” sound of the stray cat...

The story of a Butterfly

I am a butterfly. A beautiful butterfly. Other butterflies are jealous of me because my wings are lovely with a spectrum of black, purple and green colours. Something that no other butterfly possesses as far as I have seen. All the flowers want me to hover over them because I make them look beautiful too. And when I do that, I get a lot of compliments and praises. I get the attention of every passerby even if I don’t plan to.

the pitcher of water

Sometime back, in a book named "Simple Wisdom" by Maulana Wahidduddin, I came across a beautiful story. Before I should say anything else, read the story:

"A man used to live on a desert, and who, urged on by his wife, agreed to take an offering  to the King in the city. The offering was a pitcher of rain water, which the man and his wife had laboriously collected. They considered this water precious because it was sweet compared to the brackish water of their well, their only major source.Meagre though the offering was, the King received it in the spirit it  was offered and, emptying the pitcher, filled it with gold. The King also arranged for the man to return to his home on a boat. Seeing the vastness of the river on which he travelled, the man marvelled at all the water the King had at his command and at the way he took the poor man's meagre offering and rewarded him.

The King is God and his bounty is as boundless as all the water on earth"

Until a few years back, I used to believe that seeing is believing.  I knew there was something wrong with the idea but didn't exactly know what. However, during Ramadan (2 years back) I was hearing about Hazrat Suleman on TV which went on like this:  Allah had given him a miracle of being able to communicate to the beings in the other dimension i.e. to the jinns. He wanted to send message of Islam to the kingdom of Saba whose ruler's name was Bilquees.
