the pitcher of water
"A man used to live on a desert, and who, urged on by his wife, agreed to take an offering to the King in the city. The offering was a pitcher of rain water, which the man and his wife had laboriously collected. They considered this water precious because it was sweet compared to the brackish water of their well, their only major source.Meagre though the offering was, the King received it in the spirit it was offered and, emptying the pitcher, filled it with gold. The King also arranged for the man to return to his home on a boat. Seeing the vastness of the river on which he travelled, the man marvelled at all the water the King had at his command and at the way he took the poor man's meagre offering and rewarded him.
The King is God and his bounty is as boundless as all the water on earth"
Aren't we blessed to have such a Merciful God whose mercy and bounties are endless? He gives us return without measure, keeps the doors of forgiveness open 24/7. When we walk towards him, He runs towards us. He gives us sawaab when we stop ourself from sinning. His love is 70 times greater than the love of our own mother.
He provides us with fruits from a small seed and milk from the belly of the cows. He has provided sky as a canopy for us and pathways on earth to walk on. He has provided us day for work and night for rest.
The Angels. birds, fish, trees, sun, moon, etc spend every single minute of their existence celebrating the praises of Our Lord and obeying His commands without question. All He wants from us as well is submission to Him "willingly" to shower us with pots of gold.
And everything just for "that pitcher of water"....
Allah says in Surah Rehman "Which of the favours of your Lord will you deny?"
Indeed, which of the favours of our Lord will we deny...

the story is wonderful!! our blessings are like the stars...when we begin counting, we lose track because there are soo many blessings! btw how did u make the Assalam alai kum (Peace be upon you) icon move...it looks incredible!

Indeed, story is wonderful and it really helped me to change my priorities in life, first time when read it somewhere,it made me realize that i always do good deeds with much time management/counting and call it a balanced deen-o-dunya approach, such hypocrisy is shameful & unjustified on my part to the God whose mercy and bounties are endless,it helped me leave the habit of doing efforts with meager counting ,atleast now i try to gave my 100% whatever good work i strive for.
Thanks for the share which helped me and many others, once again!

Very nicely Put, Allah does not want anything in return for his blessings, we just need to be thankful to him, no matter what the circumstances be.and never get disappointed cause Whatever happens, it happens for good.

Kiran and anonymous visitors :) ! thankyou for the kind words :)
Kiran yeaah its soo true.. our blessings are stars.. we do lose track of them everytime we try to count them...
Anonymous visitors, I'd really appreciate if you would also put your name so that it becomes easy for me to know who is who...
But neverthless yes, you both are correct... we really count what we are doing for Him all the time and He gives return to us without measures. How bountiful of Him! we should thank Him as much as we can :)

"Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect."
—Al-Ahzab[5]
(14: 43): And He gave you of all that you asked for, and if you count the Blessings of Allah, never will you be able to count them. Verily! Man is indeed an extreme wrong-doer, - a disbeliever (an extreme ingrate, denies Allah's Blessings by disbelief, and by worshipping others besides Allah, and by disobeying Allah and His Prophet Muhammad ).
Know who you are & Know whats required of you from your Lord. Every single minute evaluate your behavior towards oneself, others & Allah.

Yes we should thank Him as much as we can,and the best examples we find to learn from are of His prophets and companions of his prophets, how they thank Him for e.g. in a battle Hazrat Abu bakr(R.A) took all he had to the Allah's cause,Hazrat Umar (R.A) half, these are learning lessons for us all,btw Nido, here first anonymous prefers to be anonymous as have accepted the worst past in the public :)

@ anonymous: by the way, it will be nice if i know who u are.. I am planning to disable anonymous option so dont mind :)
May 26, 2010 at 9:16 PM
It can stop me from commenting but not viewing btw am hacker too then don't mind ever if i hack any of your accounts : ) which i don't do due to religious reasons as have left many bad things from my life else can easily do it esp. with non-techie people :D then i will call people to the right path on your behalf.
May 27, 2010 at 3:38 AM
lol, this 'anonymous' person seems confused :P
May 27, 2010 at 3:43 AM
@anonymous: why will you take all that pain of hacking an account and then continuing it yourself?
if you really wanted to call people to the right path you would 'create' a blog yourself which be alot easier than hacking a blog esp. for a tech-genius person like you...
and if you have some personal enmity with nida then even then taking her blog down isn't a good idea.. she can make another blog haha... so why would you take so much pain!? *perplexed*
