The light

Imagine a world of darkness. A world where there are no greens or blues or yellows but only black. Darkest of the darkest black. Where there is no sunshine after rain and no morning after night. This is not any unrealistic world. But a world which can be visited anytime by just closing our eyes…
Such is the world of a blind. A world where there is so much darkness that he cannot even see his own self. So much darkness that all the things around him are only black in colour. And no matter where he goes or what he does, the darkness just doesn’t leave him alone. To him, this world is an obligation, unlike us, who have an option.
So, in this dark world, what is it that keeps him going? What is it that makes him wake up another morning? What is it that makes him look forward in his life? The world is so dark around him, wouldn’t it be better for him to abandon it?
I have been thinking for the answer.
Maybe, he has gotten accustomed to this darkness so much so that it doesn’t feel dark anymore.

But wouldn’t that be too frustrating? If the world was a beautiful picture on a canvas, how frustrating would it be to live at its other side? And just because he had been living there for long doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t want to see the picture itself.
So maybe it is something else that keeps him going. Maybe, the dark world isn’t that dark afterall. The things and the people around him are dear to him not because of physical beauty, but what is much more beyond: Emotions. Feelings and emotions and love become the light of his life. He comes to see things through the eyes of his heart.
But wouldn’t this be too frustrating as well? Wouldn’t he feel as if he is being treated unjustly? Why do others have a choice and he doesn’t? Why do he gets to live in the dark world and others don’t? Why can’t he just switch places with someone else?
So the answer must be something else.
And therefore, I finally came up that the answer must be hope. A hope of a better tomorrow, in this world or in the next. That is what must keep him going. That is what makes him continue with his life.
That is what in fact, keeps all of us going when our world becomes slightly darker. Hope has made man live in the worst situations but not give up his life. And those who end their lives, are those who give up on their hopes of a better tomorrow and start believing that world could be no worse. Hope is therefore, one of the most prized possessions of a human being. And the best place to find hope, therefore should not be in the objects or the beings, which are mortal and which will one day perish away, but it should be in God, who is immortal and who will never die.
Hope in God is thus the everlasting light which can truly make us overcome the fear of darkness forever.

Agreed, but for its verification,do a soft research on it by asking the blinds how they see the world around and what's keep them going? Because, you have just empathized,it seems right but its not necessarily to be correct.
What I think is that losing sight is nothing {as in the case of blinds} when compared to losing one's vision, vision for Life is what keeps every individual going, the vision is supported by hope, but it is not just the hope itself.

i think that is true for everyone. be they blind, deaf or someone simply sad.
as for sensory reception, the senses of the blind grow stronger. they listen better, smell stronger and so on. thats what adds 'colour' to their vision.
nonetheless, that darkness can never be extinguished.

Nice post ………… surely we have to live up with hope ………. But I have to add up that no matter what we are thinking about darkness; it is the blessing for all of us. Our hope for better brighter future tomorrow ……..
We have to analyze our routine daily life ……… What happened when we faced whole bad day ……….. when everything went wrong and we are just praying to Allah that the day must be passed at earliest ………. We have to think it is the darkness of night that absorbs all the negatives in our life ……….. provides us transition to wake up next day with new hopes and enthusiasm.
I must say the conversion of light into darkness and then darkness into light is the big lesson for all of us. Every success is the light and every failure is the darkness …….. but failures are necessary to realize the importance of success ………… self realization is important that neither the success nor the failures are perpetual ……….. So we should need not to proud on our success neither lose hope on failures.
However, if we act conversely, Darkness is our faith even in the bright sunny day. Just like our whole nation is facing currently.

Wow. you gave me a whole new perspective to think about. Just like after illness, we value health, the same can be said about darkness!
:D Thanks for the idea :) JazakAllah
